Wocket is a free civic data tool that aggregates public building records from New York City agencies — including the Department of Buildings (DOB), Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), and the Environmental Control Board (ECB). We pull data from NYC Open Data and other public sources to help tenants, apartment hunters, and housing professionals understand building conditions.

The building data displayed on Wocket comes from publicly available datasets published by NYC agencies through the NYC Open Data portal (Socrata API). This includes violations, complaints, permits, certificates of occupancy, ownership records, and more.
We attribute all data to its original source. Wocket is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any New York City agency.
This is important: Wocket calculates safety grades, risk tiers, percentile rankings, and other scores based on our own analysis of public data. These are Wocket's computations — they are not official government ratings, endorsements, or assessments.
When we say a building has a particular grade or risk level, that reflects our methodology applied to available data. The City of New York does not assign letter grades or safety scores to buildings through Wocket.
Wocket uses artificial intelligence (powered by OpenAI) to generate building summaries, answer questions, and produce reports. AI-generated content may contain errors, misinterpretations, or outdated information.
You should not rely solely on AI-generated content for any decision. Always verify important information against official city records.
Wocket is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
City data can contain errors, time lags (sometimes weeks or months), and gaps. Some records — especially for buildings constructed before 1938 — may not be digitized at all.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York County.
